TERM GOALS
COVID-19
COVID-19 has affected UCR students in countless ways. This epidemic has forced students to move out of their campus residence, transition to online classes, and yet students are still expected to pay tuition for services they are no longer receiving.
Through the whole situation, campus administration has neglected student voices. UCR markets themselves as the poster child of diversity and inclusion, but marginalizes that same demographic they claim to serve.
When campus closures began, students were left in the dark about the status of UCR and the impact of campus changes. Our administration did not make a concerted effort to make sure that students were informed and engaged throughout the process. Students turned to petitions to force administration to listen in order to simply have their voices be heard. The role of ASUCR is to ensure that student voices are heard loud and clear.
As your SPP Senator, I will make it my priority to ensure YOUR VOICE COUNTS! I will do my best to ensure students are informed throughout the entirety of the process and I will do my best to ensure our needs as students are met.

Representing School of Public Policy Students
UCR has a 61% 4-year graduation rate. We can do better.
One of the biggest roadblocks for on-time graduation is finding open seats for required classes. This is especially difficult for SPP majors, as public policy is remarkably interdisciplinary. Many public policy majors don't get to take their lower division requirements until their second or third year, because there are no reserved seats like there are for many other majors. It doesn't help that most public policy upper-division courses do not take place within the public policy department. Many students have to petition to get a course approved as a "public policy" upper-division that can count towards graduation. This is especially true for public policy students in less popular tracks, like public health. These students often have to take classes off-campus, because UCR does not offer the courses that students need to complete. These students cannot get access to UCR education, because they must complete off-campus courses to graduation. Let's prioritize registration for public policy students.

Prioritizing Mental Health Services
The UC system is a competitive school system. With rigorous academics, mixed in with social life and family, many students can find themselves struggling with mental health. A recent UCSA (UC Student Association) study concluded that UCR's student mental health services would receive a final grade of a C-. We deserve better. UCR mental health services need to be able to address the complex needs of our student body; this includes accessibility, diversity, and outreach. I'd like to work with organizations and administration to increase access and develop more outreach for out mental health services. (Image from UCSA)
